Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Marine Machinery Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision: I have performed work on electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and welding projects for equipment, systems (e.g. fuel, sewage, HVAC, potable water, hydraulic, electrical, etc.), vessels, and vehicles. I have performed work on engine room machinery and auxiliary equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort Work is frequently performed in uncomfortable and tiring positions. There is frequent climbing, standing, stooping and lifting up to 50 pounds by individuals and of greater weights with assistance. Working Conditions Works inside and outside. Subject to dangers of flammable fuels, exhaust fumes and gases, hot engine rooms, metal chipping and grinding, moving machinery, slippery decks and hazards attending movement of floating plant.
